Perez’s journey with Red Bull had a modest start. However, he believes that there is a lot more in store for him in the second half of the season.
Checo had managed to secure a front-row start for Red Bull in Imola. He also managed to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Checo hopeful about second half of 2021
While Perez has been giving a consistent performance with Red Bull, he has hopes for a better second half of the current season.
Oftentimes, the Mexican found himself in the midfield battles which compromised the race strategies of his team.
“The more information I get, the more natural everything will be inside the car,” Perez said.
“It’s not all-natural yet for now, but I’m going to get there. I think I’ll get there even in the second half of this season and I’m going to be pretty strong.
“I think I’m going to get stronger and stronger as a team,” said Checo.
‘I’ve moved into a different category’
During the ongoing mid-season break, Perez took out time to look back at his beginning with Red Bull and the challenges he was facing.
He added that he has shifted to a different category after joining Red Bull.
“The way this car gets the maximum lap time and tackles in smog, the pace of the races is very different from what I was used to in the past,” said Checo.
“The way you look at the tires is different. Every car’s rim heating and cooling requirements are different. There are very specific details as everything is linked to the tires.
So, to be honest, I’m in a different world. To be honest, it’s like I’ve moved into a different category. This is a different category,” Perez concluded.
