“Someone once told me it was very important”: Mick discusses ‘weird’ routine

Formula 1 is a draining sport which requires important physical and mental strength. It enables the drivers to cope with the high-adrenaline atmosphere. But, each driver has their own set of strategies that they use while competing.

Mick Schumacher is no different and his technique seems to be helping him.

F1 drivers go through a whole lot while they are in the car including experiencing a massive speed increase, G-force, and a decrease in grip.

Amid all this pressure, Schumacher talks about what he does to keep himself focused.

“Somebody once told me it was very helpful to talk to yourself in the car. When I first heard that, I thought, ‘Hm, sounds weird’. But it’s actually very, very helpful,” the F1 rookie said.

The son of the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher joined F1 with the Haas F1 team at the ongoing 2021 season.

The German has joined the F1 paddock hoping to see himself in the top 10 finishes. But Haas has merely remained mid-field all this while.

Also, Haas rivals Alfa Romeo and Williams have been giving a boosted performance. This has left Haas to race by themselves at the bottom of the field.

“If you are able to talk to yourself, then you are always able to find your way back to your own thoughts. You can go through various problems. And so it helps me when I talk to myself to get fully focused again,” Mick said.

Overall, it seems like Mick is on track in his attempt towards sustained improvement. This season could be a great learning experience for him.
