Steve Kerr is a former professional basketball player and current NBA coach from the United States.
In May of 2014, he was named head coach of the Golden State Warriors. To date, he has won three NBA championships with the Warriors. As a player, he won five NBA Championships.
Early life
Steve Kerr was born in Beirut, Lebanon on September 27, 1965. Kerr went on to have a successful collegiate playing career. He even made the USA Basketball team, which won a gold medal at the 1986 FIBA World Championships.
Career
The Phoenix Suns selected Steve in the second round of the 1988 NBA draught. In 1989, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. His most notable success came while playing for the Chicago Bills. During his time with the Chicago Bulls, he won three NBA championships in a row.
Steve Kerr currently holds the record for the most accurate three-point shot in NBA history.
Kerr announced his retirement after the 2003 championship season. He was hired as a broadcast analyst for Turner Network Television right away. He also worked as an NBA commentator for Yahoo!
Kerr and a group of investors attempted to purchase the Phoenix Suns from Jerry Colangelo for $300 million in 2004. The transaction was never completed, but Steve remained as the team’s General Manager from 2007 to 2010.
Steve remained with the Suns until May 14, 2014, when it was announced that he would become the Golden State Warriors’ head coach. He had been courted by a number of teams, most notably the New York Knicks, but the Warriors eventually recruited him with a five-year $25 million contract.

Steve earned a total of $15.8 million during his NBA playing career. That equates to about $24 million today. His highest playing salary was $2.62 million from the San Antonio Spurs in his final season, 2002-2003.
In 2014, he signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the Warriors. In July 2018, he agreed to a contract extension. The terms of the contract were not disclosed, but it is believed that the deal did not differ significantly in terms of salary.
