In recent years, Argentine tennis star Diego Schwartzman has been among the game’s elite performers. He’s beaten players like Rafael Nadal in some amazing matches. On the clay courts, he plays his best tennis.

Schwartzman was playing for his country in a Davis Cup match against Belarus the other day. Unfortunately, the Argentine player lost a surprising match to Daniil Ostapenkov, a teenager. In straight sets, the 18-year-old defeated the higher-ranked opponent.

Schwartzman took to Twitter and said, “I don’t have much to say or explain about today’s game … tomorrow I have another chance to do better. Sorry to those who expected more from me. Now to cheer on the boys in the doubles. Bravo Guido Pella today.”

Diego’s dissatisfaction is palpable in the aforementioned statement. However, it appears that he wants to put the event behind him and concentrate on the future. He expressed his regret to the Argentine fans before wishing his compatriot luck in his upcoming doubles match.

In terms of Schwartzman’s season thus far, he began competing in Melbourne and advanced to the third round before losing to Aslan Karatsev, a first-time semifinalist. After that, he advanced to the quarterfinals in Paris only to lose to Rafael Nadal, the King of Clay.

Later, he was knocked out in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships and did not advance to the second week. He finished his Grand Slam career after losing in the fourth round of the US Open 2021.
