Emma Raducanu, a British sensation, won her first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows. She couldn’t recapture her magic in Indian Wells after a scintillating performance at the US Open 2021.
In the second round of the competition, Aliaksandra Sasnovich defeated Raducanu in straight sets.
Andrew Richardson was Raducanu’s coachduring her time at the US Open. She parted relations with Richardson after the competition and temporarily worked with former British No 1 Jeremy Bates.
According to recent rumours, she will now work with Johanna Konta’s old coach, Esteban Carril.
Esteban Carril and Emma Raducanu will come together
Raducanu has been looking for the proper fit in her backstage team for quite some time. Since becoming famous in the Wimbledon Championships, the 18-year-old has switched coaches twice.
She worked with Nigel Sears in London, and Andrew Richardson for her run in the United States.
Raducanu was seeking someone with ‘tour-level experience,’ thus her association with Richardson terminated. Esteban Carril, according to reports on Channel News Asia, might to take over the role on a trial basis.
Johanna Konta’s old coach, Carril, helped her climb from outside the top 100 to the top ten in the world.
Carril had been with Johanna Konta for two and a half years after she dropped out of the top 100 in 2014.
Konta rose through the rankings, going on a 15-match victory streak in 2015, and eventually reaching the top 10 in the world in 2016. At the end of the 2016 season, she was crowned the WTA Tour’s most improved player.
Emma Raducanu is set to return to Romania for her next appearance.
