Nick Kyrgios gave his honest opinion on Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime, saying that he is very different from the duo.
Kyrgios has been a revelation in the world of tennis. He thrives on crowd support and unlocks ways to win even if he is having an off day. The Australian is not the most technical player, but he is every bit as effective as the best in the business.
The tennis ace gets a lot of stick from fans who call him lazy and lacking the drive, as opposed to Tsitsipas and Felix. He agreed with the sentiment that he isn’t as committed, but stated that everyone was different and that there were multiple ways to become good at tennis.
Speaking on the No Boundaries podcast with his friends, Kyrgios gave his honest opinion on Tsitsipas and Felix, and said that he was a very different player compared to both of them.
“I wouldn’t say I respect them more. I just think that everyone’s different,” he said.
“For instance, Tsitsipas would do everything and dedicate his life to playing at the slams. Like diet-wise, he’s doing yoga, stretching, gymming.
“I may not be doing that, but I wouldn’t say I respect him more just because he does that. Everyone’s different.”
Being himself
Kyrgios also used the example of Felix, and highlighted an incident to explain his point.
“For instance, Felix Auger-Aliassime is my teammate on the bench and we’re watching Rublev and Schwartzman play,” the 26-year-old narrated.
“I’m just sitting on the bench recovering, wearing a hat on, just out of it. Felix is like on his phone recording points. I’m like this guy is f**ked up!”
“I respect the f**k out of that, like he’s going to do amazing things because of that, but I’m like, to what extent?!” he concluded.
