Nick Kyrgios lashed out at Bernard Tomic, and proceeded to mock him for his poor ranking.
The war of words between Kyrgios and Tomic has been going on for a while now. The latter has been taking shots at the Australian recently. Although Kyrgios initially showed restraint and praised the World No. 260, he was pushed over the edge recently by his countryman.
Kyrgios lashed out at Tomic, and called him out for not being a stand-up guy and being respectful towards him.
As quoted by Tennis World USA, Kyrgios said, “I’m probably one of the only people in tennis in Australia that’s stood up for him multiple times.
“I’ve done things for him, my family, my brother’s done things for him.
“I’m not sure (if we will play each other this summer), but as far as I’m aware, I don’t think he is even in the Australian summer.
“I haven’t seen his name anywhere, or what tournaments he is playing.”
Tomic’s comments
“Obviously Nick is a good player, probably top six or seven servers in the world,” Tomic had said on Instagram before taking a dig at him.
“Obviously I beat him in Kooyong 6-3, 6-4 because I train with him I pick where he’s serving and I know where he’s at so that style doesn’t really bother me.”
When asked who was better in their prime, Tomic cheekily replied, “I still am.”
After hearing his counterpart’s comments, Kyrgios said, “Where people play exhibitions – and yes he did beat me there once.
“But to say that he’s better? I have more titles.
“I don’t think he has any big scalp to his name, no Rafa, no Federer no Djokovic. To say that he’s better than me, it’s a bit of a stretch.
“But we all know what BT’s capable of and I wish him the best. I ain’t no jealous person, I want success for everyone — so BT, we know what you are capable of brother, let’s see it.”
