Kyrgios takes exception to Tomic saying he is better than him – “I have more titles”

Nick Kyrgios took exception to Bernard Tomic saying he was better than him, and proceeded to take a dig at him.

Tomic recently said that he was a superior player to Kyrgios. He based it off beating him at the Kooyong Classic in 2019. He said that Kyrgios was good, but his victory over the six-time ATP champion proved his superiority.

It didn’t take Kyrgios long to hear what Tomic said about him. He addressed the defeat he suffered, but laughed off the claim that he wasn’t as good.

Kyrgios took exception to Tomic saying he was better than him, and belittled him a bit before announcing his respect for him.

As quoted by tennisworldusa, Kyrgios said, “Where people play exhibitions – and yes he did beat me there once.

“But to say that he’s better? I have more titles. I don’t think he has any big scalp to his name, no Rafa (Nadal), no (Roger) Federer, no (Novak) Djokovic. To say that he’s better than me, it’s a bit of a stretch.

“I want success for everyone — so BT, we know what you are capable of brother, let’s see it.”

Doing things different

Kyrgios is one of the most talented players active today, and has beaten some top-tier players. However, he recently admitted that although he is a big fan of tennis, he is not as passionate about the game as the best in the biz are.

“I love the game, but I’m not passionate or driven as they are,” he said.

“They’re like once in a generation, once in a decade athletes. There’s no chance that Federer or Nadal or Novak or (Andy) Murray doesn’t love it.”
