Nadal discusses sporting values given by family members that enabled him to thrive in tennis

The term ‘mentality’ is overused in sports, and its value is oversold; yet, Rafael Nadal has been one of the most ferocious rivals on the men’s tour in recent decades.

The Spaniard is known for his never-say-die mentality as well as his outstanding court talents.

Rafael Nadal has always given his all in whatever he has done in his life, such is his dedication. To date, the 35-year-old Mallorcan player has stated that he does not compromise on this element.

He attempts to outdo himself and perform better the next day with each passing day.

“I was born into a family of many sports references and it is something that has always inspired me. I do not know how to do anything without always giving my best.

“It is something that has dominated my life. And what I try is to improve every day,” he said on Marca.

Rafael Nadal’s background in sports

Nadal noted that his family is very involved in sports, with his uncle and former coach Toni Nadal being the most prominent example.

Toni began coaching Rafa at a young age and instilled in him many of the characteristics that he possesses now. Miguel, Toni’s younger brother, also played professional football in La Liga for FC Barcelona and Mallorca.

When it comes to tennis, after failing to impress in Washington, the 13-time French Open winner decided it was best to return home to check a foot problem that had been bothering him for some time.

He finished his 2021 season a while ago, but he’s been seen playing golf since then.

His involvement with the sport dates back a long time. Regardless, we hope to see him recover quickly and return to doing what he does best.
