Reilly Opelka storms out of Indian Wells following defeat against Jenson Brooksby

Reilly Opelka has started his European Open Tour after a lacklustre result in Indian Wells.

The World No. 25 faced Jenson Brooksby in his opening match, who gained notoriety by winning the first set against Novak Djokovic in the round of 16 at the US Open.

While Opelka advanced to the round of 32 right away, Brooksby had to go through the qualifying rounds first. The latter won the match in straight sets after a gruelling round of tennis.

Opelka appeared powerless and irritated throughout the match, as he was unable to win a single set.

Despite his ATP circuit expertise, Opelka lost in the first round of the tournament. He also expressed his displeasure during the game.

Jenson Brooksby impresses Reilly Opelka

Brooksby defeated Opelka in an hour and twelve minutes with ease. Reilly Opelka was irritated during the match since he didn’t win a single set.

“How the f*** did Novak win a game against this guy in the first set (at US Open)?” he shouted, out of disappointment.

Brooksby’s performance left Opelka awestruck and amazed at the same time. The fifth seed couldn’t have predicted this, given his recent success on the ATP tour.

In the round of 16 at this year’s Flushing Meadows, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic met American Jenson Brooksby. Djokovic, who was hoping for a straight-set win, dropped the opening set by a score of 6-1.

After this incredible first set, people all across the stadium began clapping and chanting for their hometown team.

Unfortunately, the Serb regained his composure and won the following three sets, clinching a comfortable triumph. Djokovic, on the other hand, praised Brooksby’s potential and efforts in the post-match interview.

In the quarter-finals of the European Open, the American will face Botic van de Zandschulp.

He made a strong showing at the US Open, reaching the final eight. It will be interesting to see how these young men approach their next confrontation.
