Last month, the seven-time grand slam champion withdrew from the US Open due to a leg ailment. Venus played only 12 matches this year and was last seen on the court at the Chicago Women’s Open when she lost in the first round against Hsieh Su-Wei.

Although Venus’s comeback has yet to be confirmed, the American has stated that she intends to return to the sport when she is 100 per cent ready. Meanwhile, as an entrepreneur, the great tennis player is involved in a number of business decisions.

Childhood days

The former world number one recently spoke with Cosmopolitan, a prominent women’s fashion and entertainment magazine. Venus Williams spoke to Sylvia Obell about her challenges as a child striving to make it great in tennis, and she discussed her thinking at the time.

“I didn’t see myself as different. I saw myself as a great player. I thought that I was better, that I could win”, told Venus.

Serena Williams was able to achieve her goals because of Venus Williams’ achievements. It was mystifying how their father (Richard Williams) pushed the Williams sisters. Venus also commented about her influence on Serena when they were younger.

We’re like gladiators out there, literally. You go out there with your lance and it’s just you”, she added.

Not only did the Williams sisters encourage a generation of women to work hard for their aspirations and believe in themselves in order to achieve their goals, but they also motivated a generation of men to do the same.
