Despite almost crashing out midway through the race, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, against all odds, came in second at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Even though this was a successful race for him, the Brit could only look at where he wants improve in the future.
“On my side, it was not the greatest days, it’s the first time I’ve made a mistake in a long time. But I’m grateful I was able to bring the car home today,” he explained after the race.
“There was only one dry line, and I guess I was in too much of a hurry to get by everyone. I came to the inside and I could see it was wet and I was trying to stop, but the thing wouldn’t stop and it sent me off.”
Hamilton took the opportunity to congratulate the other drivers who were on the podium with him.
“Congratulations to Max, he did a fantastic job today – just solid work from him. And also to Lando, what an awesome job and it’s so good to see McLaren back up there.”
All in all, this was a successful race for the Mercedes driver as he managed to score points for the team.
“I’m really really grateful we were able to get going again and to get some points for the team was really important today.”
