Toto Wolff declares his final ultimatum to Red Bull – “Finish one, then two”

The Austrian Grand Prix was yet another blow to Mercedes after they failed to secure the top spot. Max Verstappen took the lead for the second consecutive week at the Red Bull Ring.

The Silver Arrows have their eyes set on Silverstone and hope to dominate the British circuit by making amends.

Team boss Toto Wolff has even gone far as to say that they will blow away their competition by extreme margins.

He adds that Mercedes will secure a double podium finish at the British GP.

Finish with 30-second advantage

Wolff and his team faced a difficult race on Sunday with Valtteri Bottas unable to catch race leader Max Verstappen. The Finn has to settle for P2.

Lewis Hamilton was out of the podium and ended up at P4.

However, the Brackley-based outfit are looking to strike back and claim victory two weeks from now.

“I think we are going to go to Silverstone and blow everyone away. Finish one then two, thirty seconds’ advantage ahead of everybody else,” Wolff stated.

Mercedes has a strenuous fight ahead

The Silver Arrows have not won a race since Monaco. Red Bull’s consecutive wins have placed them well ahead of Mercedes in the constructors.

Mercedes have 242 points under their belt but Red Bull have 286, a 44 points gap.

The team are well aware that they have to bring out their A-game if they want to cover this massive gap if they want to win their eighth title.
