The accident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in Silverstone could just be the beginning of a bitter rivalry.

Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff agrees that if the two drivers do not get in line, we can expect more crashes to happen in the future.

The crash led to Verstappen having to visit the hospital and both Red Bull and Mercedes getting involved in a war of words.

Battle has become more intense: Wolff

Toto Wolff has confirmed that following the incident at the British Grand Prix, the dynamics between the two drivers have changed significantly.

“I think that the intensity has increased since Silverstone,” said Wolff.

“It certainly will not be the last time they fight for position and hopefully they can do it in a sportsmanlike way. And, if not, we will see more collisions,” said the boss.

Hamilton does not need to prove anything

Considering the intensity of the rivalry between Lewis and Max, many were under the impression that the crash was caused by Hamilton on purpose.

However, Wolff claims that Hamilton does not really need to prove anything to anyone.

He also added that the Brit has already earned a major name for himself being in the sport for so long. As a result, he has no reason to cause the crash intentionally.

“I think he’s much beyond proving a point,” said Wolff.

“He is a 99-time race winner and seven-time world champion. There is nothing Lewis Hamilton needs to prove to anybody anymore,” he concluded.
