Just a few valiant gladiators get the chance to compete against an elite fighter through the 30-foot long UFC canvas, as Michael Bisping once reminded Cody Garbrandt.
When competing in the most prestigious MMA competition, fighters put everything on the line. One of the two fighters, though, must lose while the other basks in glory.
Bisping told Garbrandt to keep his spirits upbeat despite losing to former teammate TJ Dillashaw. Bisping also claimed that no MMA analyst is bold enough to compete in the UFC ring.
“We win some, we lose some Cody. We live to fight another day, you know what I’m saying. Well done, man, well done. F**k it, you know, that’s the way it goes. it’s the way it goes. It’s the fight game, you know what I mean. All these people talk s**t. They don’t have the balls to step in there. Well done. I’m proud of you,” Bisping said.
Font next in line for Garbrandt
Garbrandt took a one-year hiatus in 2019 after losing three straight games. At UFC 250, the Ohio native fought Raphael Assuncao for the second time. With a spectacular punch at the end of the second round, Garbrandt shocked the MMA world. Check out Garbrandt’s thrashing of Assuncao in the video below:
Following that, Garbrandt agreed to fight flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at 125 pounds. However, due to health problems, he had to drop out of the project. After being booked for a rematch with Brandon Moreno, former Claymont Mustang linebacker Figueiredo decided to remain at 135 pounds.
At UFC Vegas 27, Garbrandt will face bantamweight Rob Font. Font is coming off a stunning victory over former title challenger Marlon Moraes in December 2020 at UFC Fight Night 183.
