What Is Formula 1?

Formula 1 is a type of auto racing. The cars in this race are very fast and have to be light so that they can go faster. This race was first held in the 1900s and has grown in popularity since then.

F1 is the most-watched annual sporting event on TV, with over 400 million viewers worldwide. Millions of people watch the race live at the circuits or on television via a combination of free-to-air and paid television broadcasts

3 of the Most Popular Formula 1 Drivers

Formula 1 is one of the most popular motorsport competitions in the world. It has been running for more than 100 years, and it has witnessed the birth of many talented and skilled drivers. Below are some of the names that made a mark in the F1 circuit:

1. Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has been racing in Formula One since 2007 and became the youngest driver to win the World Championship title. He is also the only British driver to have won the Formula One World Championship title. His dominance in this sport has led to him being known as “The New Michael Schumacher”. Hamilton was born on 7 January 1985 in Stevenage and grew up in north London, England.

2. Max Verstappen

As the son of former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen, it seems that racing runs through this driver’s genes. Max Verstappen currently leads the 2021 World Drivers’ Championship. He is also one of the top Formula 1 race car drivers today.

3. Lando Norris

Lando Norris is perhaps the most popular Formula 1 driver amongst female fans. This British-Belgian racing driver currently competes with McLaren. He has since won a number of championships, including the 2015 MSA Formula Championship, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and Toyota Racing Series.

Formula 1 News: F1 Goes to Vegas!

Formula 1 is making its way to Las Vegas, with its first race scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend in 2023. The organizers of this global racing sport are expected to roll out an official announcement in the next few weeks.

If this happens, Las Vegas may become the official flagship race of Formula 1. The racing series is already established in Austin and is slated to debut in Miami around May.

Reports say that the race may use some parts of the city streets, including the famous Las Vegas Strip. Viewers may then watch the race via the pedestrian bridges.

The organizers are also eyeing New York City, but there are no clear plans yet on whether a fourth race is about to happen soon.

Aside from America, the F1 team is also seeing potential in Africa. There is already a lot of interest in the content, so the organizers don’t want to miss this in their calendar’s geography.

More Teams to the F1 Grid?

Michael Andretti, a known American driver and a team owner, has been very vocal about his interest in submitting an F1 entry. But it’s not just him. He’s probably the most vocal, but there are four to five more requests that F1 organizers are considering to be a part of the racing series.

While Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali mentioned that they are having discussions about adding more than 10 teams, he seems to be convinced that the racing sport needs it now. F1 already has 10 teams, and the competition is quite tight and solid. If more teams are added, there may be challenges and complexities that may arise.

The Biggest Challenge of F1 Teams

Sure, the race drivers and crews can conveniently travel with ease via passenger flights, but without a means of transporting about 700 tons of cargo across seas and oceans in a matter of hours, then this sport would have been absolutely impossible.

Aside from delays due to weather conditions, the doubling airfreight charges are of equal concern to the competing teams. And these prices are expressed in per kilogram costs.

Heavier Formula 1 race cars mean more costs. And compounding the issue is that teams are often advised to revise their costs and work on a certain budget.

Now, the team’s bosses are asking to revise the budget cap. Christian Horner of the Red Bull team said that the added issue at the moment with the cap is that the world is experiencing inflation. And in the UK alone, the inflation rate is already at 10 percent. That means that logistics, fuel costs, and freight have a significant impact.

When and Where to Watch the F1 Races

Formula One races are held on Sundays and are often scheduled two weeks apart. The race weekends usually begin on Friday, featuring several practice runs, and it continues on Saturday with the qualifying round.

ESPN airs practices and races, while F1 events in North America are aired on ABC. You can also catch the entire F1 race weekend by subscribing to YouTube TV.
