“Whoever came up with that s***”: LeBron James criticises play-in tournament following Raptors humbling

Despite Lebron James’ long-awaited return to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team has failed to find its rhythm.

His comeback did not yield the desired results as the Lakers are now 0-2 since getting him back. Unfortunately, after re-injuring his ankle on Sunday night against the Raptors, it seems like the Lakers are set to lose out on his services again.

As the team falls down the ladder onto the 6th seed, it seems like they may be headed into the newly introduced play-in tournament if they fail to step it up.

This will force them to compete for the final playoff spot, which is not ideal for the defending champions.

When asked about his thoughts after Lakers’ loss to Toronto, Lebron James was very critical.

“Whoever came up with that s*** needs to be fired,” he said.

Fans were outraged by Lebron’s comments and criticized him for being “two-faced”. This is due to the fact that Lebron had praised the play-in tournament last year in the bubble.

“So if there are five or ten games left… why not those guys battle it out? Make them play each other all five games,” Lebron said back in 2020.

Despite the reception Lebron has been getting, it seems several people agree with him. Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and owner Mark Cuban had also criticised the new format earlier in the season.

Unsurprisingly, the Mavericks and Lakers are both in danger of having to battle their way into the playoffs through the play-in tournament.
