“Always gets help”: Former world champion feels Hamilton often relies on get-out-of-jail card

Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, and Ayrton Senna are among the top drivers to have participated in the F1 grid and are renowned multiple world champions. People often believe that Hamilton only wins because he has the fastest car in the entire game.

However, former F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve believes that Hamilton’s victories are mainly because of the internal support he gets from his team.

Hamilton has already matched Schumacher’s record of seven titles after winning the last season. But 2021 could be a special year for him as he breaks attempts to break that record.

The number 44 driver has already won at Bahrain after fighting off Red Bull’s Verstappen. As a result, Hamilton currently sits on top of the driver’s standings and hopes to maintain the same energy at Imola as well.

In an interview Villeneuve said, “I do not know. Michael and Ayrton have won with cars they didn’t have to win. In complicated situations, without the support of the team.

“Lewis, on the other hand, has always dominated with the best means and internal support. We should see it without these two conditions,” Jacques concluded.

Even Stefano Domenicali believes that Hamilton will win his eighth title in 2021 considering he has already won the opener at Bahrain.

“Lewis is important. First of all, he has an incredible challenge ahead of him namely to become the first and only driver with eight World Championship titles. So his focus will be on that,” he said.

“Of course, he is also actively campaigning against racism and for diversity. It’s crucial that he feels comfortable in Formula 1 because that’s where he belongs. And that’s where we and the fans want to see him.”

For the next round, the stage will be set at Imola for the Italian Grand Prix. Can Lewis bring out his best yet again? Let us know in the comments below on what you think!
