“I’ll do a shoey”: Norris agrees to follow Ricciardo ritual on two conditions

The long-awaited Daniel Ricciardo shoey was on display in the 2020 season. He got two opportunities to do it but forgot all about it the first time!

Hopefully, he won’t forget about it again, because it might look pretty gross, but it is one of the marvellous sights of our sport!

Ricciardo will team up with Lando Norris at McLaren. If rumours are to be believed, Norris has agreed to do a shoey himself in 2021, but he has some rules.

“I would do a shoey, yeah. But I don’t think I’d do it from his shoe, Danny’s shoe,” he said.

“If I’m on the podium and Danny’s not, I wouldn’t do a shoey. Only if we are both on the podium would I do a shoey.”

It may seem good in theory, but Norris is not delusional. He knows it will be an incredible task to get both McLarens on the podium in the same race.

“Trust me, we’ve got some work to do before we are both on the podium,” he said.

McLaren supporters have every reason to be optimistic this season. Not only have they managed to recruit an experienced driver in Ricciardo, they will also be running on Mercedes engine units.

They could be serious contenders, at least as far as the mid-table is concerned.

They finished in third position last year, which was a huge win for the team. Maintaining that level must be the priority.

In doing so, they would hope to claw a few more points off the gap between them and the table toppers.
