F1 veteran Fernando Alonso recently had an interview where he gave fans a glimpse into his season so far and his performance. Additionally, the Spaniard also spoke about what it would take to defeat Lewis Hamilton.

He offered insights on the performance of Red Bull and Mercedes and the intense competition between them at the moment.

According to the 39-year-old, Hamilton is currently in top form. This includes how he manages to work with a team.

Alonso agreed that the Mercedes driver has had several lucky moments, especially in Imola.

He went on to say that even though Hamilton has the best car, he must still give a consistent performance in both rainy and dry conditions.

“That can only be done if you are at the highest level and I do not know if everything he is doing is valued enough. I know he is valued, but I give Lewis a lot of credit right now,” he said.

“Mercedes no longer has the dominance of three or four years ago, when he did win quite easily. Now they are very close sometimes and that does not influence him.”

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton will be competing this weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix.

In FP1, Hamilton finished third while Alonso finished a disappointing 15th place, slower than teammate Esteban Ocon.
